Ray Prather has been elected a Fellow by the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel. A partner at  Prather Ebner LLP, Ray focuses his practice on estate planning, advising tax-exempt organizations and consulting on tax issues in trust and estate litigation.

Established in 1949, The American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC) is a national organization of approximately 2,500 lawyers peer-elected to membership by demonstrating the highest level of integrity, commitment to the profession, competence, and experience as trust and estate counselors.

Fellows must have at least ten years of experience and be active in the practice of trust and estate law. Fellows are selected based on their outstanding reputation, exceptional skill and substantial contributions in the field, bar leadership or legislative activities that support the organizational mission to improve and reform probate, trust and tax laws, procedures, and professional responsibility.

Throughout his career, Ray has advised hundreds of clients who require tailored estate planning advice due to contentious family dynamics, ownership in closely-held businesses and taxable estates. He is also a member of Lambda Legal’s National Legacy and Planned Giving Council and Advocate Charitable Foundation’s Planned Giving Council. Ray received his J.D. from the DePaul University College of Law.

The 40 newly elected Fellows span the US, including three Fiduciary Counsel Fellows, as well as five International Fellows representing Belgium, Canada, China, and Italy.
