Regardless of the method you use to begin your family, simply naming a guardian or guardians does not offer enough protection for your children and resources. To avoid probate or having a guardian of your estate appointed, you should set up a trust. This will allow for flexibility, tax planning, and creditor protection for both the surviving spouse and any children.
