Ray Prather authored an article for the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin that explained the process he and other lawyers spearheaded to put in place legislation enabling remote signings of wills and trusts. In March 2020, Prather, who chairs the Illinois State Bar Association’s Trusts and Estates Section Council joined with the Chicago Bar Association’s Trust Law Committee to draft legislation codifying Governor Pritzker’s Executive Order 2020-14 allowing remote witnessing and notarizations as an emergency step to enable Illinois residents to sign legal documents during the pandemic. In fact, three bills in the Illinois General Assembly will likely pass this year and transform the way lawyers interact with clients.

A partner at Prather Ebner LLP, Ray advises clients on a wide array of issues related to administering and resolving challenges to estate plans. He represents individual and professional trustees, beneficiaries of trusts and estates, and tax-exempt organizations.
