Ray Prather has been appointed to the Planning Committee of the American Bar Association’s Section of Real Property, Trust and Estate Law (RPTE) for the 2022-2023 bar year. The Planning Committee considers and recommends long-range plans to enable the Section to best carry out its mission and goals, and performs other functions as directed by the Council. In addition to the Planning Committee, RPTE leadership re-appointed Ray as a member of Publications Committee and Editor for the Trusts and Estates eReport. Ray will also be serving the last year of his 3-year term on the Section’s Council.

The Real Property, Trust and Estate Law Section is a leading national forum for lawyers, and currently over 25,000 members. The Real Property Division focuses on legal aspects of property use, ownership, development, transfer, regulation, financing, taxation and disposal. The Trust and Estate Division focuses on all aspects of trusts, estate planning, employee benefits, insurance, and probate and trust litigation.

Founded in 1878, the ABA is the largest voluntary association of lawyers in the world. As the national voice of the legal profession, the ABA works to improve the administration of justice, promotes programs that assist lawyers and judges in their work, accredits law schools, provides continuing legal education, and works to build public understanding around the world of the importance of the rule of law.
