Partners Ray Prather and Dan Ebner received appointments in the American Bar Association’s Section of Real Property, Trust and Estate Law , effective Sept. 1.

At its annual business meeting, the RPTE Section Council elected Ray Prather as Section Vice-Chair for the Trusts and Estates Division. As the TE Division Vice-Chair, Ray oversees nine Groups that house 33 Committees focused on Trust and Estate Law. These Groups and Committees engage with members of the RPTE Section through articles, continuing legal education, and member-benefit calls on trusts, estate planning, employee benefits, income and transfer taxes, and probate and trust litigation. Dan Ebner was named trust and estates chair for the Corporate Sponsorship Committee, as well as co-chair of the Probate and Fiduciary Litigation Committee.
The Corporate Sponsorship Committee oversees all activity relating to corporate sponsorships of Section programs. The committee works with all Section standing committees, division groups and committees to identify the potential for sponsorable activities and to assist in securing sponsors.
Meanwhile, the Probate and Fiduciary Litigation Committee reviews developments related to estate and trust litigation, including will contests, surcharge litigation, contested guardianships and conservatorships and alternative dispute resolution. It studies selected issues, such as the right to a jury trial and the availability of punitive damages.
