Ray Prather was featured in Bottom Line Personal, a business and finance newsletter, explaining what health care documents to access quickly in an emergency. He identified the key types of health care documents to have handy including a health care proxy, a living will, a Do-Not-Resuscitate order, and a will and durable power of attorney. Ray explained that the best scenario is to have all these health care documents in place before an emergency.
“If you don’t already have a health care proxy and other documents in place, the medical decision-making usually will fall to your spouse … your adult children … or your parents, in that order,” Ray says.
A partner at Prather Ebner Wilson LLP, Ray advises clients on a wide array of issues related to administering and resolving challenges to estate plans. He represents individual and professional trustees, beneficiaries of trusts and estates, and tax-exempt organizations.
