ABOUT THOMAS

Tom joined Prather Ebner as Of Counsel in July, 2015. Tom began his legal career as an associate with the firm of Sidley Austin in Chicago, one of the nation’s largest law firms, where he concentrated in real estate matters. In 1981, he became Vice President and General Counsel to Field Enterprises, Inc., the holding company owned by members of the Marshall Field family, becoming Executive Director in 1986, a position he held until establishing his own practice in 1989. His private practice has included representation of members of several high-profile Chicago families in connection with the restructuring of family-owned businesses.

He currently serves as a member of the Professional Advisory Committee of the Chicago Community Trust, as well as the Professional Advisory Committee of The Chicago Foundation for Women. Tom has served as a Trustee of The Cornerstone Foundation, the endowment fund which supports the work of Lutheran Social Services of Illinois, one of the largest church-related social service organizations in the United States. He also served as a member of the Board of Governors of the Human Rights Campaign, and the Advisory Committee of the Roger Baldwin Foundation of the A.C.L.U.
